Agnes Obel Nov 2027 London Venue URL 1080x1080

Agnes Obel - Berlin-based, Danish-born; singer, songwriter, producer & classically trained pianist with an elegant and elastic voice. Obel's poised & melancholic chamber pop draws from the same atmosphere-heavy well as cinematic spellcasters, but with a succinct aura of Scandinavian refinery.

After a five-year break from the foreground, Obel returned to stages in 2025 – including a date at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall. A more fitting venue for Obel’s music to resonate with her audience may not exist. Obel has continued to tour throughout the summer of 2026.

Obel has just announced the release of her fifth studio album The Meaning of Flowers, her first album in six years to be released on September 18th, 2026.

The Meaning of Flowers is woven together from different strands of thought and inspiration by one of the most curious minds in contemporary music today. The music draws on a broad range of sources, from the poetry of Enheduanna (the world’s first named author) and the ideas of philosophers Hannah Arendt and Emanuele Coccia, to the Danish pop scene of the 80s and 90s.

Obel reflects the emotional impact of motherhood, Obel’s intellectual interest in the subject – notably Arendt’s concept of natality, “understood as the human capacity for new beginnings” – and the fact that the temporarily altered neuroplasticity of her brain took her thought and compositional processes in fresh directions.

The Meaning of Flowers is dedicated to Obel’s daughter: “she who has changed me and raised me and taught me so much – and I can feel so much more awaits to be learned”.
